And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding and the door was shut. And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming go out to meet him!’ Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. “Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in to marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.” Matthew 24: 37-39 “But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. What did Jesus reveal in the parables of the coming of the Son of Man? So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses’.” Matthew 18: 21-35ġ57. Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?” And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. Then his master, after he had called him, said to him, “You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. So when his fellow servants saw what had been done, they were very grieved, and came and told their master all that had been done. But that servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii and he laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, “Pay me what you owe!” so his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying, “Have patience with me, and I will pay you all.”And he would not, but went and threw him into prison till he should pay the debt. The servant therefore fell down before him, saying, “Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you all.” Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt. But as he was not able to pay, his master commanded that he be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and that payment be made. And when he had begun to settle accounts, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. “Then Peter came to Him and said, ‘Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?’ Jesus said to him, ‘I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

What references to the birth of Jesus are there in the Old Testament? And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.’ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!’”ĩ5. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered.

Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city. This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria.

“And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered.
